The GOP will avoid an intraparty feud as Liz Cheney has decided to drop out of the Wyoming Senate race.
The daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney made the decision due to unspecified health troubles in her family. With Liz Cheney out of the running, three-term Republican incumbent Sen. Mike Enzi will not have to run against another Republican. While some Republicans are relieved with the move, many are upset over Cheney’s decision because of her position against Obama.
Mr. Enzi considers himself a conservative but he hasn’t been as firm with opposing Democrats as Liz Cheney claimed she’d be. Conservative commentators such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity had backed Cheney up in the Wyoming Senate race before she dropped out.
The party said that Liz is a rising star in Wyoming and nationwide and they expect big things from her at the right time.
