Responding to a public outcry over the incident, Fulton Country election officials issued a statement saying they felt that Usher’s presence created a “distraction” for other voters, the Atlanta Constitution Journal noted.

Election officials also indicated that the singer’s representatives had contacted the polling station to prepare officials for his appearance there.

Usher later posted cell phone pictures of himself at the voting machine on his Twitter account. There has been no comment on the incident from Usher or his representatives.

Ordinary citizens who waited in line for the opportunity to cast a ballot expressed frustration over being shuffled aside for a celebrity, and other Fulton Country officials said the preference shown to Usher was unfair to other voters who had to wait their turn.
