The US Post Office (USPS) has officially raised US postal rates with the price of stamps up by 3 cents.
The increasing US postal rates that were announced last month are officially in effect with stamp prices at 49 cents now. The price hikes come in an attempt to counteract the budget deficit that the USPS has been struggling with over the last few years.
The price to mail a post card has increased by 1 cent, now up to 34 cents. USPS also announced that you might be in luck if you have a stock of Forever Stamps as they are selling books of (20) stamps for $9.80, a 60 cent increase.
Letters with additional ounces can be mailed for 21 cents now (a 1-cent increase) and 1 oz. letters to international destinations can be mailed for $1.15.
