Ah, Congress. It”s best to shift the blame for a government shutdown on anyone available. Hey, look, a Park Service Ranger!
A Tea Party Congressman, Rep. Randy Neugebauer, visited the World War II Memorial and blamed a ranger for denying access to veterans who wanted to visit the memorial (all National Parks, including the memorial, had to be closed when the government shut down).
“How do you look at them and … deny them access?” Rep. Neugebauer asks the unidentified ranger.
“It is difficult,” the ranger says a few times. “I’m sorry, sir.”
“The Park Service should be ashamed of themselves,” Neugebauer tells her.
“I’m not ashamed,” the ranger replies.
“You should be,” Neugebauer shoots back at her.
Well, it’s good to know he thinks someone should be ashamed.
The Park Service actually has been invoking the First Amendment and allowing vets to visit the memorial despite the shutdown making any public visits illegal.
Meanwhile, Rep. Neugebeauer said on a radio show that he would help keep the government shut down “as long as it takes” to stop Obamacare from taking effect.
