On Thursday, Twitter launched its Vine mobile app, which allows for video sharing. It is currently available for Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone and iPod touch.
However, the new app has gotten off to a shaky start. Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) has already disallowed the “find people” feature, which is based on its social graph. So when a Vine user tries to connect with a Facebook friend, an annoying error pops up!
Facebook has made no comment on this. But there is no secret that it has been in a heated battle with Twitter. Consider that last year Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, disabled integration for Twitter links, which affected photo visibility.
Video is becoming a critical part of social media, but it looks like Vine might not help Twitter much in getting into the game, especially since Facebook sharing will likely be important for success.
