In yet another chapter of Facebook‘s (NASDAQ:FB) continuing experiment, the social media giant is changing users’ Timeline settings. The new effort is happening to a small percentage of users as a test prior to being rolled out site-wide.
The new Timeline appearance places all postings in a single column on the left side of the screen. The right side will be for “likes,” “places” and other activities. The timeline of dates will remain on the far right for anybody who wants to see them.
The reworking comes in response to gripes about the Timeline’s current two-column format that had users’ posts and activities awkwardly grouped. Complaints were strong when the new format appeared earlier this year.
Postings from users and friends will also be wider and easier to read in the redesign, while other modules will be smaller.

A long-time follower of the IPO scene, back in 1999 Tom started one of the first sites in the space called WebIPO. It was a place where investors got research as well as access to deals for the dot-com boom. Tom also wrote the top-selling book, Investing in IPOs. In it, he covers all the aspects of analyzing an IPO, such as reading the prospectus, detecting the risk factors and understanding some of the arcane regulations. But don’t worry — if that process is too intimidating for you, thankfully Tom will do the legwork for you right here in the IPO Playbook blog.
