FBI Lifts SpongeBob Coins from PFGBest HQ

The company's precious metal unit had sold the minted silver bullion

Following the fraud confession made last week by PFGBest CEO Russell Wasendorf Sr., the FBI seized several assets from the company’s headquarters — including SpongeBob Squarepants silver bullion coins.

The coins minted in the image of a popular Nickelodeon characters from the SpongeBob series add another bizarre element to the case because the company ran its own precious metals division, Reuters reports.

PFGBest sold the coins as part of a four-coin collector’s set that customers often paid for via eBay‘s (NASDAQ:EBAY) PayPal. Like other companies that sell the coins, PFGBest’s precious metals unit priced the collection for $259.

Each coin in the set is inscribed with “IN SPONGEBOB WE TRUST.”
