JetBlue Shrinks Airline Legroom

Flying economy class on a JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ:JBLU) flight? That’s gonna cost ya … in legroom.

The airline that once bragged about the amount of legroom it offered passengers is cutting an inch off leg distance in 11 rows of its 52 Embraer E190 planes, CNN reports. All 11 of the shrinking rows are what the airline refers to as “non-premium seats.”

The space cuts will allow for legroom expansion in two rows of seats near the front of the cabin. Passengers who pay extra for those seats will enjoy 38 inches of legroom.

A JetBlue spokesperson told CNN that the changes will help the airline bring in an extra $150 million this year.
