The company says it will hire 10% more seasonal workers this year compared to 2011. Hiring of the seasonal workers is already in progress and the chain hopes to have the recruiting process completed by November, CNN Money notes.
That translates to 52,700 workers hired for the Christmas shopping season, an average of 41 seasonal employees at each Kohl’s store.
Those workers will get assignments that can reach up to 20 hours of work per week. Others will get less weekly hours.
In addition to seasonal workers at its stores, the company also plans to hire 5,700 workers to handle increased activity at its distribution centers.
The chain’s credit unit will even get 30 seasonal workers to support increased applications for store credit.
Shares of Kohl’s were mostly flat in Tuesday mid-day trading.
