Online Too Much? There’s a Slap for That

[1]Most of us know — and even complain — that Facebook (NASDAQ:FB[2]) is a time-waster. Not most of us would do what Maneesh Sethi has done to stop procrastinating online, though.

Sethi, a blogger, is a social media junkie who decided he was losing valuable time. The obvious solution? Hire someone to slap you each time you signed on[3], of course.

Yes, Sethi decided to hire a woman from Craigslist to slap him every time he began goofing off online. This creative approach ties in well with Sethi’s blog, Hack the System[4], which focuses on creative means of boosting one’s productivity.

The move may have just been a stunt designed to boost Sethi’s visibility in a crowded marketspace … but there’s something there in the slap that rings true.

The amount of time that social media steals from productivity is undoubtedly large, and the rest of need to control the time spent on sites like Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter as well.
