Pinterest Cleans House, Cracks Down on Spammers

[1]Social media outfit Pinterest isn’t trying to cut down on spamming — it’s hacking away at it.

The site, which allows users to “pin” items of interest, maintains the usual ongoing battle against spammers. However, in its most recent effort, it has been tracking and saving information on a large number of “suspicious, fake or spammy” accounts, and plans to delete them all in one large push.

A blog post on the Pinterest site[2] says it hasn’t deleted the accounts when originally detected because the company was using their information to build better anti-spam systems, which will begin being implemented immediately.

The site encourages users to continue reporting and blocking spam posts.
