Temple Run 2, the sequel to one of the hottest gaming apps ever, has just been released to Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL) App Store to enormous fanfare.
The follow-up to top-selling Temple Run immediately went to the top of the iTunes charts, The London Telegraph reports.
The first version of the game was downloaded more than 170 million times. The designers — the husband-wife team of Keith Shepherd and Natalia Luckyanona — became millionaires following the game’s success. It took them four months to program.
In the new version, the game is enhanced with zip lines, mine carts and a greater variety of challenges.
Shepherd told the Telegraph, “When you’re developing games you always hope that there will be a hit and people will love them. But this has become a hit on a level beyond what we ever imagined. Everybody is playing it.”
