Consider the Source: Steve Wozniak, Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL[3]) co-founder, is worried about the company’s level of innovation[4], AppleInsider notes. In a recent interview with a German magazine, Wozniak says that Apple has fallen “somewhat behind” in terms of features offered by rival smartphone makers. He singles out Samsung, which he says makes “great products.” Samsung has emerged as Apple’s primary competition in the global smartphone market, producing an array of phones like the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, that compete directly with the iPhone. Still, Wozniak says he still gets in line at Apple Stores when a new Apple device debuts because, it’s “like a big, major concert in which you absolutely must attend personally.” He believes that Apple will continue to remain profitable.

New Market: Apple may be preparing to make a major push into India’s smartphone market[5], Business Insider notes. Due to Indian carriers’ refusal to subsidize the cost of the iPhone, Apple has long been priced out of the market. That has allowed rival Samsung, which makes a range of low cost smartphones, to becoma a leader in the Indian market. Faced with rising global competition, Apple is now turning its attention to India. The company has decided to distribute iPhones in India directly, bypassing carriers, and will launch a major marketing campaign to promote the iPhone to Indian users. Sales in India have rise as much as four-fold over the past three months, according to IDC.

Store Security: Employees at a Florida Apple Store alerted police after spotting a pair of identity thieves attempting to buy iPhones[6], CultofMac notes. Workers at Apple’s retail outlet in the Altamonte Mall in Seminole Country noted that the identification provided by a man and woman contained spelling errors, including “organ domer” on the back of the woman’s ID. The employees contacted the police, who detained the pair, who have so far declined to provide their real names.
