[1]Time Warner‘s (NYSE:TWX[2]) DC Comics is planning to kill off Batman’s sidekick Robin … again.

Robin’s fate will befall him in Issue #8 of Batman Incorporated, which hits stores Wednesday, reports[3] The Los Angeles Times.

It’s not the first time that a Robin has been killed. An earlier incarnation of the character, Jason Todd — the second character to bear the Robin name after the original Dick Grayson — was killed by the Joker in 1989 in the story “Batman: A Death in the Family.” This time, however, will be special because the current Robin is Batman’s son, Damian Wayne.

The death has been planned by long-time Batman writer Grant Morrison. In a blog post[4], Morrison says the death is necessary for the narrative as he draws his time writing Batman to an end. In the post, Morrison says that, “what son could ever hope to replace a father like Batman, who never dies?”
