[1]The new Star Trek movie, Star Trek Into Darkness, will be in IMAX (NYSE:IMAX[2]) theaters two days before it is released elsewhere.

Paramount has signed a deal with IMAX to release the 3D version of the movie into IMAX theaters on May 15, Hollywood Reporter reports[3], while the general release is on May 17. IMAX says that it has already begun selling tickets to the upcoming early release.

This isn’t the first time the two companies have had a special arrangement concerning the movie. Last December, the first nine minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness was shown exclusively in IMAX theaters before The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
