Where McDonald’s Is Testing Waiters & Fine China

Chain testing the concept in Australia

McDonald's NYSE:MCDFast food giant McDonald’s (NYSE:MCD) is testing table service at one restaurant in Australia.

The test is being conducted at a location in Warilla, Australia, reports The Daily Telegraph. The test will feature wait staff and place settings and will continue for five weeks.

The owners of the Warilla franchise, Glenn and Katia, told the Telegraph that the idea came to them after they served their parents a meal at the restaurant with more formal place settings. Other patrons saw them and began requesting similar service.

On an inspection trip, McDonald’s Australian head Catriona Noble was served the same way. She then sent the idea to the chain’s U.S. headquarters and received approval for the test.

Mrs. Dwarte said, “Most of the people who came in decided to try it. Most were quite excited. We actually had a group of eight people who asked me to take a photograph of them so they could put it on Facebook. We are also providing customer surveys so we can gauge the feedback.”
