The popular burger chain will debut a new turkey burger sandwich this spring. The turkey burger will be available on a limited-time basis, but could become a permanent menu item, if consumers buy enough of them, the Associated Press notes.
Burger King already offers chicken and fish sandwiches, but has never ventured into turkey territory before.
The new turkey burger will have about 530 calories. That’s more than its grilled chicken sandwich, but less than a beef Whopper. The turkey burger is expected to be priced at $3.99.
Burger King and its arch-rival McDonald’s (NYSE:MCD) have been moving to add lower-calorie products to their menus in a bid to attract health-conscious diners. Next month, McDonald’s will roll out yolk-free Egg McMuffin’s that cut 50 calories from the regular McMuffin.
Shares of Burger King rose more than 1% in Wednesday trading.
