The new coffee — called “Death Wish” by its makers — has twice the caffeine that a normal 16-ounce cup of coffee contains, reports ABC News.
The level of caffeine in the drink is so high that it is close to being toxic. Death Wish coffee is billed as containing 660 milligrams of caffeine per 16-ounce cup. “That means that Death Wish is giving 660 mg. Case reports have shown toxicity at about 700 mg,” Dr. John Spangler, told ABC.
Still, it may not be enough for some people. One enterprising fan, Phil Broughton, has reduced Death Wish down to an even more potent drink. Using a combination of cold-water seeping and vacuum extraction he created a drink that contains 40 times the amount of caffeine in coffee. It’s recommended that a person drink no more than one shot at a time.
