Heinz Spill Has Traffic Playing ‘Ketchup’

Nevada crash puts traffic on hold for hours

A tractor trailer carrying bottles of Heinz (NYSE:HNZ) ketchup overturned yesterday near Reno, Nev.

The truck crashed near the Robb Drive overpass on Interstate 80 on Thursday and delayed traffic for hours, reports the Reno Gazette-Journal.

While no one was hurt in the crash, the truck overturned after hitting a median and being ripped open by a light pole. It spilled thousands of bottles of the ketchup across the highway that required the use of a snowplow to clear. Police speculate that the crash started when the truck attempted to avoid another eastbound car.

As for the scene? “I have red everywhere on the highway. No bodies, no people, just ketchup. The scene looks pretty bad as far as color goes,” said police Sargeant Janay Sherven.
