Shoppers at a Pittsburgh, Pa., Target (NYSE:TGT) got an unwelcome surprise on Monday afternoon after a man ran into the store brandishing a knife.
The unidentified man seized a 16-year-old girl who was near the checkout area. Arriving on scene, police sprayed the man with pepper spray and overpowered him. The girl was stabbed during the struggle. Two other men also received cuts, the Associated Press noted.
Witnesses say that the knife-wielding man was shouting, claiming that he’d been robbed and that he appeared to be taking the girl hostage. The girl was taken to the hospital and is listed in serious condition.
Police said the man had been in an altercation with several other men outside the store and was chased into the Target. He is now in police custody.
In January, thieves stole five Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPads from Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) offices in Mountain View, Calif. No Microsoft products were taken.
