35 Actions to Take on Monday’s Market Dip

by Louis Navellier | April 15, 2013 7:21 pm

Gold plunges to a two-year low. Brent crude falls to $100 a barrel. Silver, copper and nickel prices retreat. Monday was not a good day for commodities[1], and that’s thanks to surprisingly lackluster economic data from China. According to the latest estimates, China’s economic grew 7.7% in the first quarter. While we would be ecstatic to see this kind of growth in the U.S., in an economic powerhouse like China, it underwhelmed expectations.

And the doldrums have spread into the stock market as well—the major indices fell[2] 1% to 2%. But it appears that the flight to quality is finally underway. If you look at the strongest performers on the S&P 500 today, you’ll notice that the bulk of them are A- and B-rated stocks[3].

As we make our way through an increasingly volatile spring and summer market, I want you to keep this in mind. As long as you stick with the top-rated stocks, you should be in a good position to take advantage of near-term dips. This is why I start each and every week by rescreening the stocks in Portfolio Grader—this give us all a chance to stay ahead of the curve as the market becomes more and more narrow.

So let’s look at the 35 big blue chips that have been upgraded and downgraded this weekend. After taking a close look at the latest data on institutional buying pressure and each company’s fundamental health, I decided to revise my Portfolio Grader recommendations for each of the stocks listed below.
