chick-fil-a fast food 630[1]The latest restaurant chain to leap on the healthy food bandwagon[2] is Chick-fil-A.

On Tuesday, the privately-held company said it would introduce a new line of salads and low-calorie wraps, and add calorie counts to its menu boards beginning on April 29. The moves are aimed at attracting younger, more health-conscious diners to the chain, USA TODAY noted.

In addition to the new menu items, Chick-fil-A will permit customers to view the kitchens at all of its 1,700 restaurants. Customers who take the tours will get a free cookie or ice cream cone.

Chick-fil-A is the largest fast-food chicken chain in the country. Last year, it generated $4.6 billion in sales, eclipsing Yum! Brands (NYSE:YUM[3]) KFC restaurants.

However, the chain also found itself the focal point in the nation’s debate over gay marriage last year after company president Dan Cathy made remarks that offended gay rights supporters[4].

Despite the controversy, Chick-fil-A’s same-store sales climbed 7.7% last year.
