Boeing 787s Return to American Skies

Chicago-bound flight scheduled out of Houston

Boeing (BA) Dreamliners have been cleared for takeoff.

After being grounded for four months, Boeing 787s have been cleared for flight. The FAA grounded the planes back in January amid concerns that the battery systems were at risk of catching fire. One of the planes is scheduled to fly from Houston to Chicago this morning.

Boeing was forced to immediately pull six Dreamliners at the time. NBC News reports that the 787s have been fitted with new battery systems that feature wider spacing, steel encasements, and better ventilation.
