dots game app[1]The new game Dots is being downloaded at an amazing rate.

The game — coming out of innovation center betaworks and developed for the iPhone — has passed the 1 million download market in less than a week, TechCrunch reports[2].

The game is reminiscent of Connect Four but with a twist. Players must manage a board of colored dots while attempting to connect as many as possible with straight lines before time runs out.

After one week, the app has gone to the top spot in eight countries and is in the top five in fifteen nations around the world. It currently sits in third place in Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL[3]) App Store.

The game has spread in popularity through its clever social media approach. Users are encouraged to compete for most dots connected with their friends via social media. The game also has a leader board in which people outside of a player’s connections can compete.
