Investor Alert: Know Before You Buy These 48 Blue Chips

Greetings from the Las Vegas MoneyShow[1]! I’m currently writing from Caesars Palace in the Entertainment Capital of the World and before I head off to my next seminar[2], I wanted to check in and get you up to speed on the latest market trends. In particular, I wanted to discuss the strategic importance of the next few weeks for investors—leading up to the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

I mention that date because the market tends to rally leading up to the holiday weekend. Then in June, Wall Street shifts its focus to second-quarter earnings season. This is important because analysts are already calling that the second quarter will be stronger than the first quarter in terms of profits. I don’t expect any real pullbacks in the market until August, when the market tends to “burp” following the end of second-quarter earnings season. So in several of my newsletters[3], I’ve put the pedal to the metal in terms of adding new stocks to our Buy Lists, and you may want to do the same.

But as my long-time readers can tell you, before you buy any stock, you should always run it through my free Portfolio Grader ratings system[4]. In Portfolio Grader, the Quantitative Grade you see measures the buying pressure. The Fundamental Grade you see evaluates the stock’s fundamentals. Blend those two grades together and what you get is the Total Grade.

To get a pulse on the latest buying opportunities (and the stocks you should now avoid), let’s look at the 48 big blue chips that have been upgraded and downgraded this weekend. After taking a close look at the latest data on institutional buying pressure and each company’s fundamental health, I decided to revise my Portfolio Grader recommendations for each of the stocks listed below.
