Kevin MazurThis year’s Sunday Night Football theme song will be performed by country star Carrie Underwood.

Underwood’s version of the song “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” will debut Sept. 8 before the Dallas Cowboys/New York Giants game, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Faith Hill — the singer Underwood is replacing — first performed the song in 2007. Before that it debuted in 2006 and was sung by Pink. The song itself is a re-write of Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”

Six-time Grammy winner Underwood told reporters that she’s hoping that her version of the song shows off her own personality for listeners.

“It’s the same song, same lyrics, but it’s going to be with my flair,” Underwood said.

She has not yet recorded the song but expects to in the near future.
