Netflix Loses Nearly 1,800 Streaming Movies

Warner Bros., MGM and Universal movies jumping ship

Netflix NFLXStreaming movie provider Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) loses almost 1,794 titles today.

The movies — all controlled by Warner Bros., MGM and Comcast’s (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Universal — will be moving to the new Warner Archive Instant streaming service, The Daily Mail reports.

Many of the movies are older and of the sort that fill out a service’s catalog, rather than being real draws. However, hits like Deep Impact, Woody Allen’s Stardust Memories and the complete James Bond collection are included in the losses.

It’s not the first time Netflix has seen a slate of movies disappear. Last year, the company — in a dispute with Starz — lost more than 1,000 films from its streaming service when the two could not arrive at an acceptable financial arrangement.
