Public Roars Over Florida Taco Joints Lion Meat

$35 tacos were a popular menu item

Lion_meat_tacoA Florida taco restaurant has removed an item from it’s menu after public outcry.

The joint — Taco Fusion of Tampa, Fla. — had been serving tacos made with meat from lions, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

While the lion meat came from approved sources, the public at large failed to agree. While the $35 dish was popular with diners, the restaurant got complaints and threats from animal lovers around the country.

On it’s website, the restaurant said, “Thank you all for the feedback regarding the lion meat promotion at Taco Fusion. Some of you were supportive, some of you were angry. We listened to everyone and decided to no longer carry lion. The lion meat is sold out and we do not plan to carry it again. Thank you all for your feedback.”

The restaurant seems unrepentant. Famous for selling exotic meats like ostrich, shark and camel, the website also says, “if you guys are mad now, just wait till you see what we do next.”
