eBay’s Same-Day Service Hits PCs

eBay Now also expands to additional locations

eBay Now, the online auctioneer’s same-day shipping service, is now accessible by PC, TechCrunch reports. It had previously been available only through mobile devices.

Dane Glasgow, eBay’s (EBAY) VP of Mobile & Local, cited customer trends in explaining the shift. The 21% of eBay users who access the site by both a desktop or laptop and a smartphone or tablet make up 44% of purchases.

The company is also expanding eBay Now – which currently operated in San Francisco, San Jose and parts of New York – to Brooklyn, Queens, Chicago, Dallas, and a larger swath of the Bay Area Peninsula. The service partners with local retailers to offer one hour delivery on purchases over $25 for a $5 fee.

Same day delivery is quickly becoming a must for online retailers, with Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOG), and Wal-Mart (WMT) all offering their own services.
