General Motors, Peugeot to Team Up on U.S. Vehicle Project

They have already teamed to create new minivans


1000px-General_Motors.svgAccording to a report in the French newspaper La Tribun, General Motors (GM) and France’s Peugeot (PEUGY) are looking to expand their partnership.

The two automakers are discussing an arrangement under which GM could begin marketing Peugeot Citroen’s commercial vans in the U.S., Reuters notes.

Peugeot and GM have also hinted at on-going talks over additional cooperation in overseas markets including Russia and Latin America.

If the deal were finalized, GM would market Peugeot-made commercial vans under one of its U.S. brands.

General Motors holds a 7% stake in Peugeot. The two automakers are collaborating to jointly develop smaller cars and minivans and expect to release the first minivans under GM’s Vauxhall and Opel brands in 2016.

Shares of Peugeot climbed more than 1% in over-the-counter trading on Wednesday, while GM shares rose modestly.
