Garmin Ltd. GRMN[1]Garmin (GRMN[2]) will provide drivers with a cheaper heads-up display option later this summer with its Garmin HUD.

The Garmin HUD is a device that will connect to smartphones[3] running Garmin StreetPilot or Navigon GPS software via Bluetooth. The information from the smartphone will then be displayed on the windshield of vehicles.

Information that can be displayed by Garmin HUD includes turn arrows, distance to the next turn, your speed, the speed limit, excessive speed, estimated time of arrival, lane guidance, traffic info and photo radar alerts, reports ExtremeTech.

Garmin HUD supports[4] the iPhone, Android phones, and Windows Phone 8 devices.

The Garmin HUD will cost $130 dollars, compared to heads-up display options from auto manufacturers that can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000, reports PC Magazine.
