Smartphone Device to Detect Medical Issues, Food Allergies

A new smartphone device might soon help make a medical diagnoses quickly, test for possible food allergies, and even root out toxins in water or soil.

Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign developed the handheld biosensor and phone app that uses scaled-down versions of laboratory equipment.
