General Motors (GM[1]) is recalling nearly 300,000 Chevrolet Cruzes after discovering a problem with the brakes.

IBT reports that 292,879[2] of the 2011 and 2012 Chevy Cruze models manufactured in Lordstown, Ohio will be recalled as a result of this issue. GM will notify the vehicle owners of the problem and fix it for no additional cost.

The company stated that a faulty switch is to blame for this issue because this switch is responsible for applying pressure on the brakes. GM reported that there have been 27 minor accidents resulting from faulty breaks in Chevy Cruzes.

GM recently reported that it will delay the launch of the next-gen Chevy Cruze[3] due to engineering changes. Back in 2011, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety chose the Chevy Cruze as the safest vehicle in the market.

The Chevrolet Cruze isn’t the only car to be recalled recently as Toyota also announced a massive recall[4] earlier this month.
