JetBlue (JBLU) revealed its new upscale seating option today.
There are sixteen of the new seats, which are located in the business class cabin, four of which have sliding doors that turn them into mini-suites. The new seats can turn into 6’8″ beds with massages options, and also feature a 15-inch screen with over 100 channels provided by DirecTV (DTV). Included with the purchase of one of these upscale seats is free meals, alcohol and a toiletry kit. JetBlue is planning to make these seats available on 11 of its new planes, which will fly from New York to San Francisco and Los Angeles starting next spring, reports The Wall Street Journal.
“We are targeting the under-served in the premium market,” Dave Barger, JetBlue CEO, told Apex. “This includes small business owners and those paying for travel themselves.”
JetBlue has yet to announce how much one of these seats will cost, but it says it will be a “significant reduction” when compared to the $4,000 price that competitors charge for similar seating when flying from New York to California, reports WSJ.
