YouTube App Users Caught in Middle of Google-Microsoft Spat

Google claims that Microsoft needs to update its app

The new YouTube (GOOG) app for the Windows (MSFT) Phone is receiving much criticism from its users who say that the app is constantly freezing, crashing and giving them errors.

CNET reports that Microsoft updated its new Windows Phone app, but Google has been blocking its content because the internet company is not too happy with the results.

Microsoft got in trouble last May when Google said that Microsoft’s new app violates YouTube’s terms of services, so the two companies were supposed to work together to create a new app. Microsoft eventually released it, but it appears that Google may be blocking Microsoft’s content because the company expects a more advanced app.

A YouTube spokesperson said that Microsoft needs to make certain technological upgrades on the app that would give its users the best possible YouTube experience experience.

Microsoft retaliated by saying that these upgrades would be costly and difficult. The company said that Google is blocking the Windows Phone app as a way of forcing the company to create an app that would be virtually identical to the Android and iPhone YouTube apps.
