More Cruise Lines Go Smoke-Free

A survey conducted by review site Cruise Critic showed that most cruise passengers are in favor of banning smoking in ships.

TravelMole reports that many cruise lines[1] are following Disney’s (DIS[2]) lead and enforcing smoking laws on cruise ships. The poll revealed that 54% of passengers think that smoking should be banned from balconies and about half of that number think that it should be banned everywhere. 18% of those surveyed believe that smoking shouldn’t be banned at all.

Royal Caribbean (RCL[3]) had already banned smoking in several areas of its ships but it has now extended this ban to all public spaces except for casinos starting Jan. 1, 2014. Disney Cruise Line, Cunard Line, Seabourn have made similar bans recently regarding smoking in cruise ships.

The ban is not limited to cigarettes and cigars as e-cigs are also prohibited in the designated areas despite their growing popularity[4].
