Patrick, a 430-pound[1] gorilla, is being removed from Dallas Zoo.

Patrick will be sent to Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens in Columbia, S.C. The decision to move Patrick due to the gorilla being sexist. The zoo paired Patrick up with female gorilla to breed, but instead he bit one and snapped at others. Zoo officials say that Patrick gets along fine with humans, but not with other gorillas. Patrick did get along well with his male friend, Jabari, but Jabari was shot and killed in 2004 after he broke out and injured three people. Now that the zoo is getting ready to introduce two new male gorillas, it feels it’s time to move Patrick. He will be kept by himself in the Riverbanks Zoo, but it hopes to move him in with its other three gorillas eventually, reports the New York Daily News.

“It’s become clear that he prefers to live a solitary life,” Dr. Lynn Kramer, head veterinarian at the Dallas Zoo, told ABC News[2]. “This move will allow Patrick to continue to thrive while creating an opportunity for our four remaining males to form a cohesive bachelor group.”
