Woman Texting While Driving Falls Into Lake

Woman escaped through car window, survived

A 25-year-old woman was texting while driving in Waldorf, Md. before she lost control of her car and landed in a lake.

USA Today reports that the Temple Hills woman was driving on St. Charles Parkway on Tuesday before she lost control of the car according to the sheriff’s office. She then hit a tree and the car flew 60 feet into Westfield Lake.

The woman was able to escape through a window as the car was sinking and she survived. She was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but she didn’t appear to be injured when the police found her. The crash is still being investigated and the woman could face charges for texting and driving.

A recent study revealed that hands-free texting while driving can be just as dangerous as typing.
