Amazon (AMZN) customers will now have to spend more money on the online retailer’s products in order to qualify for free shipping.
The Associated Press reports that the company’s $25 minimum on free shipping orders has now been bumped up to $35. This change took place on Monday as the holidays approach us and it marks the first time in over a decade that Amazon raises the price of the free shipping minimum. This move could help the retailer’s customers sign up to become Amazon Prime members which gives them access to free two-day shipping on millions of items on the site for $79 a year.
Amazon’s stock has been booming lately with shares up 20% over the last five days.
