Bitstrips App Goes Viral on Facebook

Bitstrips, which lets users create animated images and share them across social media platforms, has become one of the top ranking free apps in both the Apple (AAPL[4]) App Store and on Google’s (GOOG[5]) Play. More than 10 million users have downloaded the app since its release seven months ago, the International Business Times notes.

Bitstrips has also launched an educational app, Bitstrips for Schools. Users have shared more than 50 million customized cartoons using the apps, according to an executive at the Toronto, Canada-based company.

So far, Bitstrips features no advertising, nor has the company raised any outside capital. However, the company is looking for ways to introduce ads and premium content. It is also considering the launch of customized real-world plush toys based on user creations.
