Several Macy’s (M) stores will be open for Thanksgiving this year for the first time in the company’s 155-year history.
USA Today reports that the retailer is starting Black Friday early by opening some of its stores at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving night. Stores in The Loop section of Chicago and some Chicagoland stores will be open on the holiday but it is unclear how many Macy’s locations will open around the nation. Some store employees are not too happy with the idea of coming in to work on Thanksgiving but they may not have a choice in the matter.
Macy’s is following the lead of other retailers by opening its doors on Thanksgiving in an attempt to woo customers who want to go shopping after the day’s festivities are over.
