How Macy’s Plans to Woo Millennials

Macy’s (M[1]) is slowly conquering the heart of Millennials as they transition into their teenage years and eventually adulthood.

Stores reports that the retailer is targeting[2] the young demographic in an attempt to dominate the high school and college crowd in a few years. Millennials make up the population born between the early 1980s and the early 2000s and they number about 80 million.

Martine Reardon — Macy’s chief marketing officer — said that the company wants to be there for Millennials as they develop their own style as teenagers, young adults, after college when they need interview clothes and when they get engaged. And based off of the CEO’s 2012 annual report, it appears that Millennials are just as infatuated with Macy’s as the company is with the young crowd.
