A 30-year-old nail artist has only been living in the U.S. for about a year but she is already making more money than your average New York artist.

StyleList reports that Mei Kawajiri[1] made about $300,000 last year painting nails for about $120 to $150 a person. The nail polish expert moved from Tokyo to Brooklyn last year and she’s already the most sought after nail artist in New York.

Kawajiri works 7 days a week and sees about 5 clients a day but people need to make appointments in advanced. The Japanese artist has a 3 week long waiting list at this point and some even make travel arrangements for her to visit them and paint their nails.

Kawajiri’s art doesn’t limit itself to painting nails with glittery nail polish — she can do much more than that. The nail artist can do imitations of Picasso pieces, visual interpretations of Jay Z lyrics and other works of art on people’s nails.
