Nokia Announces an Instagram Phone App

instagramNokia (NOK), announced on Tuesday, that an app for Facebook’s (FB) Instagram will be coming to Microsoft’s (MSFT) Windows Phone operating system in the next few weeks.

The announcement was made at the Nokia World Conference in Abu Dhabi. Instagram apps have already been available to over 150 million users of Google’s (GOOG) Android operating system and Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone for some time. Instagram will be a good fit for Nokia Lumina devices, which have higher quality cameras than many of the smartphones that are currently being sold. The Lumina 1020 has a 41-megapixel camera and the Lumina 1520 has a 20-megapixel camera. Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom said that he is looking forward to watching what Windows Phone users will share with the Instagram app. Also announced at the conference was that Vine, a six-second sharing app by Twitter, Temple Run 2 and My Talking Tom will soon come to Windows Phone, reports ABC News.

Nokia has previously tried to provide alternatives to an Instagram app for Windows Phone by creating apps such as Oggl.
