PayPal Tests Free 2-Day Shipping

The purchases can only be shipped in the U.S.


PayPal185Ebay‘s (EBAY) online payment processor is making a limited time offer for users who make purchases at selected retailers.

PayPal will provide free two-day shipping for items purchased online at Aeropostale (ARO), Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS), iRobot (IRBT), PBS, Maurices, Sports Authority, Levi’s and Kenneth Cole (KCP). The are no minimum purchase requirements, though the items can only be shipped in the U.S., the company said in a statement.

In order to take advantage of the offer, users must have a valid U.S.-based PayPal account in good standing and complete purchases on the above-mentioned retail websites paying via their PayPal accounts.

The company did not indicate when the offer would conclude.

Last month it was reported that PayPal is developing a mobile application to permit users to pay for purchases at brick-and-mortar retail stores via the smartphones. The app could ultimately replace credit cards and is expected to come with rewards and discounts as an incentive for consumers to adopt it.

Shares of eBay slid more than 1% in Thursday morning trading.
