Thanksgivukkah! Thanksgiving & Chanukah to Fall on Same Day

Thanksgiving and Chanukah and both set to take place on the same day this year.

Due to the differences in the Jewish and Gregorian calendars, both of these holidays will happen at the same time. The last time that this happened was in 1888 and it won’t happen again until 2070. After that the two holidays will line up again in 2165, but then it won’t happen again until 76,695. Families, restaurants, synagogues and travel agencies are all preparing for the double holiday. Most places are planning to celebrate both of the holidays at once. Some restaurants are creating dishes that will have the best of both Thanksgiving and Chanukah. Travel agencies are warning people to schedule flights early, as the double holiday is going to result in heavy travel. The Temple Isaiah in Los Angeles is composing songs for its choir that will invoke both of the holidays, reports NBC News.

The excitement around the two holidays landing on the same day has even resulted in a Thanksgivukkah Facebook (FB) page, which currently has over 7,000 “likes.”
