Time_Warner_Cable[1]Time Warner Cable (TWC[2]) is reversing an earlier decision and will carry Al Jazeera America — giving the news station a huge win in a market where it has struggled to gain a following.

It’s unclear whether the station will be paying to be included in the cable provider’s services.

The channel, which is owned by Qatar-based Al Jazeera and launched in August, will be available on digital basic cable packages in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas in the next six months, according to a statement by Time Warner[4] Cable on Thursday.

Time Warner Cable said it would add the channel on all of its systems in the coming months. The company is the second-largest U.S. cable provider, with 12 million subscribers.

In January, TCW dropped the news channel, just as Al Jazeera announced it was buying Current TV.

Currently, Al Jazeera America is carried by Comcast Corp (CMCSA[5]) — the largest U.S. cable operator — as well as DirecTV, Dish Network Corp and Verizon Communications Inc’s FiOS.
