Universal Studios Roller Coaster Traps 12 Riders for Hours

wild ride12 people were trapped on a Universal Studios roller coaster in Florida for hours after a glitch stopped the ride.

The ride, the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, stopped near the top of its first hill at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The people were rescued from the ride about two hours after it had stopped. There were no serious injuries, but one woman went to the hospital after complaining about her neck hurting. Park crews worked through the night to fix the roller coaster and it was reopened on Thursday morning. The shutdown of the roller coaster occurred due to a technical glitch, but no more details about the glitch are available, reports The Washington Post.

“The safety of our guests and the experience they have on our attractions is very important to us,” Tom Schroder, A Universal spokesman, told The Orlando Sentinel. “For us, there is no such thing as a routine glitch. We put every resource we have against resolving them.”
