fuelband seEarlier this week, Nike (NKE) unveiled an updated version of its Nike+ Fuelband activity tracker.

Worn on the wrist, like a watch, the Nike+ Fuelband SE allows users to monitor the calories they burn and other metrics while exercising or participating in physical activity. The device transmits data to a mobile app and to the Nike+ website. The web portal give users a way to compared their progress to other participants, set fitness objectives and track their own development.

Nike has positioned the Fuelband SE as a component of its expanding Nike+ product line, which includes apps for Apple‘s (AAPL) iOS devices, TheVerge notes.

Here are five things to know about the Nike+ Fuelband SE:

  1. It adds Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, allowing real time tracking of workouts.
  2. It is priced at $149.
  3. It will offer prompts to keep users active.
  4. A double tap on the device will display the current time.
  5. It will hit store shelves on November 6.

The Fuelband SE will work with the Nike+ website and its iOS app. No apps are yet available for devices running Google‘s (GOOG) Android operating system or Microsoft‘s (MSFT) Windows 8.

Shares of Nike slipped fractionally in Thursday morning trading.
