Intel Gets Into the Digital Textbook Game

Terms of the deal were not disclosed


Intel INTCComputer chip maker Intel (INTC) has confirmed its acquisition of Kno, a producer of interactive textbooks.

The price of the purchase was not revealed. However, venture capital firms have poured $73 million into the educational startup, likely raising the price Intel paid for the company, VentureBeat notes.

Kno focuses on developing interactive ebooks aimed at students from K12 through higher educational levels. It has a catalog of more than 200,000 educational titles.

In a post on its company blog, an Intel executive noted that the Kno “provides administrators and teachers with the tools they need to easily assign, manage and monitor their digital learning content and assessments” and would support Intel’s developing interactive classroom learning tools and “personalized learning experiences.”

Shares of Intel gained modestly in Monday morning trading.
